Bodies: The Exhibit

Joe and I decided to venture to the Bodies Exhibit in Idaho Falls over the weekend. Coolest date ever! While I was squeamish at first, the more I learned...the more I loved it. I had to keep telling myself that they were just models or really pretty artwork. But then I would see an eye or ear which confirmed...no! These were indeed real humans that had been dissected and preserved. I was amazed at how much you could tell about a person's life just by seeing their innards! I came out with a stronger appreciation for the Word of Wisdom. Being at the exhibit was a spiritual experience.. ..to see God's creations in that way...WOW! The intricacies of the human body blew me away! I found myself wanting to look at the body parts which I have had health issues with. By seeing the parts, I was better able to understand my own body. And yes when I saw the tailbone through the glass...I twinged a little.

*Cameras were not allowed so I found these photos on the internet...but nothing compares to the real thing!
I was the most amazed with the lung display. They had a healthy lung lying right beside a smoker's lung. Oh sure I have seen the pictures but to see it for real was crazy! They had a clear plastic box right by the display that said, "Stop Smoking Now!" People had discarded cigarrette packs, cigars, and even chewing tobacco. We overheard one child saying, "See Dad, you really do need to stop now."

I was also amazed with the alveoli in the lungs. Seriously, God's creations are amazing!

Another cool room was the circulatory room which had a heartbeat going through the speakers. Did you know there were these many vessels in just your hand? Wild!
Here are some facts from the website www.bodiestheexhibition.com:

As Dr. Roy Glover, chief medical director for BODIES … The Exhibition states, “Seeing promotes understanding, and understanding promotes the most practical kind of body education possible. The body doesn’t lie!”
