One Bun, Two Shoe, Three Tree, Four Door

Here is a fun memory peg I just taught the Alternative Learning Center Government students. You too can memorize the Bill of Rights in order by remembering this memory peg. Thanks for teaching me the basic concept honey. I altered it a bit to fit the Ten Ammendments, but it worked! Yay, Me!

Are you totally confused? Let's break it down.
One-Bun (Think hot-cross-bun...cross reminds you of freedom of religion which then reminds you of freedom of assembly, expression, speech etc.)

Two-Shoe (Shoo-ting...right to bare arms)

Three-Tree (Imagine a bunch of soldiers ramming down your door with a tree trunk because they need a place to stay..."quartering of troops")

Four-Door (Envision a cop coming through your door.."unlawful search and seizure")

Five-Alive (This one keeps you alive with Double Jeopardy, Eminent Domain, Self Incrimination)

Six-Sticks (Duh, what is a gavel made of...wood..so are sticks..."Right to trial by jury")

Seven-Heaven (We all want our community to be more like heaven than you know where so we have "right to civil trials" to keep the peace)

Eight-Bait (Excessive Bail and "Cruel and Unusual Punishment")

Nine-Fine (If other rights aren't mentioned, don't worry, everything will be fine because this one states we have other rights not mentioned. Smart, huh!)

Ten-Hen (Imagine a hen (the US) sitting on 50 eggs (individual states)...those eggs hatch and become a power unto themselves...federal vs. state issues.)

You just learned the Bill of Rights. Don't you wish I was YOUR Government teacher? LOL! And yes, the kids still remembered them in order the next day! Memory Pegs work! I am having too much fun with this new job!
