Embracing 2020

Embracing 2020

At the beginning of each year I choose one word
But this year’s word “embrace” felt very blurred
Social distancing didn’t allow for many hugs
And being in quarantine made us all feel like slugs!
More words came such as Covid, Heal, Restore and Graduate
Home, Holy, Remote and Worship helped us to acclimate.
The new normal brought everyone back home to roost
And Will doing home MTC really gave us a boost!
Having the kids home for most of the year was really great
Kristen ran cross country and competed at state
College diplomas by Jansen and Carlie in the mail were received
And Will’s mission call to Vegas by email was retrieved
Allie did Refit and Inklings which kept her sane
While Joe golfed his heart out in the wind and the rain
Everyone did what they needed to cope
We decided to fully embrace faith and hope!
Faith over Fear is what got us all through
Sheltering in place, we found new things to do
Studying the scriptures kept us enlightened
And our 2020 days were certainly brightened.
Even now as we look back it’s easy to see
How the word “embrace” became our new reality!
God knows what He’s doing even amidst Jansen’s Covid long haul
And Carlie’s an elementary school counselor in White Hall.
Now as the year 2021 quickly approaches
Both Joe and Carlie get to be boys basketball coaches
Kristen’s learning to drive and Elder Jessop’s preaching The Word
We’re so grateful he survived last Christmas … our prayers were definitely heard.
This year made it hard to find rhyme or reason
But we’re thankful to have finally made it through this season
So we continue to hold onto God’s promises and wish
For you all to have a very Merry Chris-mish;)
Merry Christmas from Jovid, Mama J, Jansy Pants, Ms. Carlie, Wilbo and Kris Kris
