Independent Will

Guess where Will went this weekend?  Down to Saratoga Springs, Utah to receive his patriarchal blessing from my dad!  Will surprised us with his patriarchal blessing recommend a few weeks ago.  We had no idea he was even thinking about getting one, much less that he already met with the Bishop to prepare.  He wanted this experience to be all his so he arranged everything and took off for the weekend!

Will and his cousin Kobe headed down to Utah in my new Honda Accord.  They were supposed to drop Kobe off at Chase's in Logan but somehow, Carlie and Chase were already in Salt Lake so Kobe and Will just kept going.  Chase and Kobe stayed at Jeff and Alice's and Carlie and Will stayed with mimi and papa.  Papa has been super sick with a head cold and then Saturday after making pancakes he threw his back out while putting away the griddle.  He wasn't sure how he was going to be able to do the blessing that evening.  Thankfully, Heavenly Father was extremely merciful and aware of the situation.  Mimi gave him cough syrup with codeine while the kids were out shopping at the NIKE outlet.  Papa slept for four hours and woke up a new man.  He was ready and healthy to give the patriarchal blessing!

Once the hour was up, he became ill again and has to use a cane to walk around.  Papa said it was a miracle!!!  Will said he cried from about the second word of the blessing all the way to the end.  He hasn't shared too much with Joe and I but he just said he felt really warm and that the blessing was super specific.  The only thing he shared with me was that early in the blessing he was told that his stubbornness has been given to him for a reason;)  He knew then that Papa was not the one giving the blessing but that it was directly from God!  Carlie got to be with him for the blessing so that made me super happy!

So while Will was away, Joe kristen and I decided to go for a drive and somehow ended up on a six mile hike!  Haha!  Joe had never been to Bear Creek Overlook so it was quite the adventure for the three of us.  We didn't have any water but we found patches of snow to hydrate with;)  We didn't have food but Joe somehow had bbq sunflower seeds in his jacket pocket!  The view was spectacular!  Joe and Kristen laid down on the edge of the cliff.  I stayed a safe distance away!  Beautiful fall day here in the Bitterroot.

And lest I forget....  Halloween was super fun!  Kristen was a native american, I was an international spy, and Will was Mickey to Molly's Minnie.  Sorry I don't have a picture of them together...it's on Molly's phone.  After trunk or treat, our missionaries Elder Porter and Elder Rich stayed and played games at our house.  They are part of our family and I love them to pieces!

Today is Carlie's first day coaching Freshman Girls team at Logan High School!  I am super pumped for her.  Sounds like she is running her own tryouts and cuts!  I hope coaching is everything she dreams it will be.  She is really excited!

And believe it or not Jansen hit his 13 month mark today!  He has been serving in Franklin, TN but just found out he is getting transferred to Thompson Station, TN a little ways down the road.

Well, hope everything is going great for you!  The quote of the week on our whiteboard was written by Will from a conference talk in October 2015, "Our direction is ever more important than our speed!" - Larry L. Lawrence

Work hard and have fun!
love, mamaj
