Our Christmas Story Tree
Natalie: As we see the symbols of Christmas all
around us, let us not forget what they represent. The candy cane, angels, stars, gifts, and
even the Christmas tree remind us of the true meaning of Christmas!
Our Christmas Story Tree: Primary Kids
Kristen: You know when you start seeing red and
green that Christmas is just around the corner!
Christmas colors are symbols of Jesus Christ. Red
represents the blood of Christ. Green represents eternal life. White represents
the purity of Christ. 3 Nephi 12:48
“Therefore I would that ye should be perfect even as I, or your Father who is
in heaven is perfect.”

Natalie: Oh Christmas tree oh Christmas
tree! Christmas
trees are evergreen trees. They do not die in the winter, but stay green all
year through symbolizing eternal life. Moses 1:39 “For behold this is my work
and my glory-to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man.”

Kristen: And who doesn’t love a red and white
candy cane?
The candy cane
represents the shepherd’s staff. Luke
2:8
“And there were in
the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock
by night.”
Christ is known as
the good shepherd. The crook of the
staff helps gather the lost sheep.

Natalie: The most obvious of Christmas symbols is
the angel!
Luke 2:10-11
“Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be
to all people. For unto you is born this
day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord!”
Angels We Have Heard on High: Everyone
Kristen: We often use lights, candles, and stars in our Christmas
decorations. These represent the new star that appeared when Christ was born. The star is an emblem reminding us that in
the deepest darkness there is everlasting light and that the light is most
brilliant in our darkest hours.
Natalie: The star represents the star that shone
over Bethlehem on the night the Savior was born. The star was a heavenly sign of promises long
ago. God promised a Savior for the
world, and the star was the sign that He fulfilled His promise. Matthew 2: 9-10 “…And lo, the star, which
they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the
young child was. When they saw the star,
they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.”

child and the gift of the Savior that Heavenly Father gave the world.
