Will's 8th Grade DC Trip

Will had the privilege of going on the 8th Grade DC Trip this year. He had a blast! The following are some slide shows he put together for each day. They had an experience of a lifetime! Each day had a different theme. The first day's focus was Colonization to Independence: Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown settlement, National Mall, and Iwo Jima Memorial.

The second day's focus was Freedom is not Free!:  Arlington Cemetery, White House, Holocaust Museum, and Presidential memorials.

The third day's focus was Branches of the Government and Balance of Power: Capitol building, Library of Congress, Supreme Court, Smithsonian, Newseum, Lincoln Memorial, WWII Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, and Korean Memorial.

  

The last day was Focus on Role of the Citizen:  Mt. Vernon and Alexandria.

 

I hope I got the videos in the right order.  I am so happy Will got to have this experience!  He learned so much and came home more appreciative of his country.  He kept a journal while he was there too.  The two places that impacted him the most did not allow photography.  The Holocaust Museum was very emotional for him and he also had an incredible experience by the fountain at the cemetery.
